Default Bumper Repair

I was recently involved in an accident. someone, rear-ended me.. The insurance appraiser checked the bumper out (which was damaged) and approved a repair. Since, the impact is in the close proximity to the sensors on the bumper I asked him to run diagnostics on the sensors and he refused. Said, that would be outside their coverage. The only thing this guy did was back the car and the sensors beeped. Is that good enough? I know insurance cos. try to minimize their costs. What concerns me is that the sensors might be hanging by a thread and a few months from now they would start malfunctioning and I would not be able to prove that the accident is what caused the problem.

Any insight would be very helpful.
