Purolator PL20195 PureONE oil filter
Has this been confirmed to work on the 1996 ES300 (1MZ-FE)? I had one of these ready to do an oil change, and the shop refused to install it, repeatedly citing their part # book which only had the #s for the standard filter. Also kept on telling me it was for "American cars only/Ford" despite anything I said. Wouldn't put it on because of concerns of oil leaks.
I think you posted this over at BITOG
Why not try the new FL400S Motorcraft filter - it's a little bigger than the -YZZD3/-20004 V8 oil filters.
Older Fords and all Toyotas use a 3/4X16 filter stud and an identical gasket land.

Yup, I just wanted to be absolutely sure about the extra height of the filter fitting in the engine bay in addition to any other fitment issues. I got these PureONEs at a great price and I'm not about to let it go to waste. Prior to ordering them, I had read of quite a few people using these on different gen ES (3.3L comes to mind), Tacoma (4cyl/V6), Avalon (3L), and RX that I was unable to fathom how this shop could possibly be right.
