Hi members ,im doing my timimg belt on 1992 sc400 1uz-fe and the 1991 factory service manual states everything be set on 0 TDC with all marks aligned.
However ,i have been reading on these forums, that the crank should be set at 50 degrees with the cams lined up on marks.Could someone tell me which it is?The manual mentions nothing about 50 degrees ..I got it all set to 0 but i'd like to know if im doing it correctly before starting,2 full crank rotations and all 3 marks lineup at 0 TDC.
Zero on both cams and crank shaft. The 50 degree( which is wrong, correct is 30 degree) is for the 95 and up( interference engine). Lexus want to set the timing mark 30 degree past the TDC before loose the timing belt tensioner to prevent any damage to the valve.
Thanks alot VVT-i ,i guess i did line em up right. But it cranks but still wont start, could be something else as well.Cause the car had been sitting. Thanks again
Then you need to check for fuel and spark. Four things that keep the car start up is compression, fuel , air and spark. I don't know you're trying to figure out the no start problem. It could be your fuel pump or ecu goes bad or you get no spark to ignite.
