1998 GS400 Question--Spark Plugs

Why is it that a 1998 GS400 has a 60K change interval for sparkplugs while 1999-2000 GS400 have a 90K change interval?

Aren't the engines the same?

yup, but they probably spec'd different spark plugs from the factory... more than likely, the 98 used double platinums and the 99-00 used iridium...
