No Get Up and Go
2001 rx300 -(174,000mls) Car is sputtering - not responding to accelerator - (live in Rhode Island - cold temps) - use Prem. Gas - First attempt to fix uncluded dry gas and fuel injector/cleaner. Both backroads and highway - engine trudges and putts up to about 3rd gear or about 40mph - at around 65mph - can feel it not responding to acclerator - it runs and hovers around 65 but when I go to accelerate it doesn't speed up - and then if I floor it - it will lurch but only after a second - not immediately.
Tranny fluid is pink and adequate level - not sure when it was changed last.
Any ideas?
I thought it was the fuel filter - but I understand that it shouldn't need to be replaced under "normal conditions" -
Thanks -

Is the check engine light on?
It could be on, but not illuminated because the bulb could be out.
Regardless, you should take it to autozone or schucks and have them check to see if the car will give you codes as a starting point.
If the check engine light has not illuminated (yet, perhaps), then you should look in the exhaust and intake for severe restrictions... it's cold out there, so cats, mice, etc find their ways into warm places they aren't supposed to be, and is a very real possibility...
If nothing is found, and there are no codes, then its time to start testing things. Start with the mass air flow sensor, then o2 sensors... throttle position sensor is next... if no codes show up, a real scantool should be used to monitor these and other sensors and values while the vehicle is being driven to see whats going on...
start there, report back...
