I bought a Black RX300 so my Lexus salesman (to this day) still encourages me to buy Lexus' PermaPlate/Coat addon for $1250 (5 annual applications @ $250 a pop). His arguement is that the black exterior and leather interior will be guaranteed to stay looking new or the car will be repainted / leather replaced.

Is it worth it? Normally I would say no, but I've never owned a black vehicle under the California sun before. Has anyone done this or decided against this?

It's not that much, but if some wax (exterior) and lexol (interior) does the same thing, why bother?
