Just some info, I drive a 1993 ES300. Mkay, so let me sum up a very long story. In 2007 my stock tranny broke and I went to Aamco for a new one. After about a month of having the new one it blew a gasket somewhere and started acting up. A week after that happened the speedometer stopped working because something had melted into the tranny and destroyed the gears, says aamco. So the built me a whole new one again. This time the ABS light was on and they said if it didn't go away to come back to them. Of course it never went away, so we took it to our local friendly mechanic and he said 3 out of the 4 wheel speed sensors were broken... Probably by aamco, Awesome! So driving today, the speedometer stopped working again. I pulled over for a few minutes and restarted the car, speedometer worked fine. Im taking it back to aamco tomorrow to have them look at it, anyone have any idea to why the speedometer could have failed again then came back to life?
loose connection probably, or intermittently working VSS (vehicle speed sensor)... sorry for your troubles... make sure it's right
as an aside, I don't see how they would have damaged a rear wheel sensor, but the fronts are definitely in the line of fire...
Thank you greatly. I'm gonna make sure to get an in depth report on what's completely wrong but loose connection was on my mind. I'm kind of at a loss for words about the rear speed sensors, maybe my own mechanic broke them in an attempt to inspect them?! Anyways, updates will ensue.
