Today my dad and I decided that it was time to change the spark plugs so we went out and bought some new ones. This is the first change for the car, so obviously this would be our first experience with changing the plugs on this car. We had no idea how much work would be involved in changing the plugs until we found instructions on how to do it. So everything went off without a hitch and as we were coming to re-attaching the TB, we recognized a hose on it that we had no idea as to where it went to. I have some pictures of what I'm talking about. I know where one end of the hose goes, but no idea where the other end goes.
These are the pictures. Sorry about the second one being a little bit blurry, but I circled the ends and numbered them to explain what I'm talking about.
The car is a 2003 IS300 with the 2jzge. The diagram may/may not help us depending if we can figure it out. We are gonna try putting everything back together tomorrow. We re-seated the TB on the engine and looked at everything, and now we found another end near the timing belt that looks like it should have a hose on it but we aren't sure.
In that last picture, that piece where you think a hose is supposed to be.. nothing goes there. It is an un-used port on this car.. the IS and GS share the same engine, and on the GS this port is used.
As far as your original question, you just need to look around a little more, those hoses can only reach to one place, so look within its range, and you should be fine.
Ok we found the location of the hose end. It was hidden under where the throttle body connects to the manifold. The hose diagram helped a lot (and we found the hose diagram under to hood, too).
