SC400 differential fluid volume and type question
Hope someone can help,
I searched 19 pgs under "differential" and couldnt find it.
Why is this info not on the website in some common location?
97 SC400
How much differential fluid is used
What is the type of fluid or brand that I should buy?
Thanks

For the diff, just use a good synthetic 75w-90 or 80w90 gear oil (M1, RP, RL Amsoil... I used Royal Purple). Don't know exactly how much to use, but drain out all the old fluid, and refill it untill it begins to flow out of the upper fill hole. It works out to about 1.7 quarts or something. I had less than half of the second bottle left over.
I have used Royal Purple and love the stuff, though the other brands mentioned are also good.
I had to do the same thing with my RX...basically get it in there until it started leaking out the top. Mine used .9 L for the differential.

x2. i used about the same amount on my car, granted its a GS400 (pumpkin should be the same size).
Lexicon1, just pour in as much as needed. You know you're done when you have the worlds nastiest smelling fluid on earth coming out of the hole
