Default Tighting struts

Correct me if I'm wrong, but have any of you with strut noise been able to get rid of it by simply tighting the bolts under the hood? Mine aren't leaking and the ball joints were replaced. The car has been aligned. Everything looked tight underneath, so all I can think of is loose struts?....

you have to specify "strut noise." If the strut itself is loose enough to somehow hear it, you would've wrecked the car already. The bolts under the hood you're referring to are for the upper mount. Those should be tight all the time, as should the lower strut bolt (the big one or two by the spindle). So....I'm thinking what you're hearing is something else......what does it sound like?

couple months ago i had a metal rattling/clattering noise on the front passenger side whenever i drive over rough road conditions. it started happening for no apparent reason. come to find out the center bolt between the 3 upper strut mount bolts under the hood had gotten loose enough somehow. we tightened that up and the noise was solved. so just check to make sure your upper strut mount bolts, particulary that center one, are tighten to spec.
