Default weird starting problem

Every couple days I have a hard time starting my 99 ES300. I just had the battery replaced and the alt checked. It seems like it won't start after sitting awhile. What's weird is it either will be totally dead turning the key several times then all of a sudden it starts good, nothing in between. I also make sure nothing is blocking the chip in the key. What could this be and what can I check? Thanks in advance.

Could it be a relay or something in the security system?

Does it give you a SINGLE click when you turn the key and nothing happens? Probably your starter.

I realise this is an old post but I'm having this problem with my SC300. The cars been running great all summer (DIY Belt Change , yeah baby) but the last two times I've taken it out its been dead key once or twice and then fires right up.

Not a single click but all of the lights (dash radio...) turn on everytime like normal, just no noise whatsoever.

I'm going to clean the terminals but in case that doesn't work, any other ideas? I've run a voltmeter acrosse the terminals and its reporting 12+ so I'm thinking not the battery?

Afraid it sounds like your starter motor is in need for replacement.

try a voltage drop test. if thats very low. try tapping on the starter. if u have to tap on the starter the brushes on the armature have been worn down to non existance.
