Default o2 sensor removal

Hi
I am planing on fitting a LS400 engine into a boat . Can I replace o2 sensor with a resistor ifso what value resistor would I use?

Can you explain why you would put a resister where the o2 goes? and how would this work?

I believe O2 sensors in LS use piezo crystals to generate electricity and not to resist them as in a resistor.
