Default Alternator Replacement in 99' GS400 --HELP ASAP

Well I have searched for a few hours now and havent come up with much except "I took it to the Lexus place and it was expensive"

So I am replacing the alternator in my 99 GS400 with about 90k on the clock. I read up ALOT about if this was the problem and it looks like it was the next cheapest place to try after already getting a new battery. The radio will sometimes turn off when driving or it will be a little sluggish or won't want to shift right, dim lights, crank over real slow, etc etc.

So I have the alternator allllll removed, try to slide it off the one bolt and clank, hits the power steering pulley, well I gave a little effort trying to remove the pulley but then came here to read up on it. And now im affraid because apparently these things are like glass and I can see myself ruining the front seal and bearing on the PS pump trying to get the pulley off so i can remove the dang alternator. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

I had a similar problem on my 99 GS300, but turned out it was an alternator fuse, not the alternator itself. I am not sure if this fuse is in the same location on GS4 as on mine. Mine was in the fuse box that is next to the battery. It is the second one in a row that is A120 (looks kind of like a small box with clear plastic cover on top)

Doh, well I just spent a couple hours changing in the new alternator. Well if nothing else it has a new alternator now then i suppose. I am going to go check right now on that fuse. Thanks for the info!
