About to take my Lex in for service, oil change and a check up, I dont know the history of my car had it for like 5 months and I want to start keeping a log or something like that.. Should I take it to a lexus dealer or Toyota dealer? Whats the difference?

What you may do is stop by the local Lexus dealer and see if they have a service history on your car. Do this at an off-hour so you have some time to talk with the service writer though.

An independent shop will be less costly so long as they are qualified. I'd suggest asking in the appropriate regional forum for suggested shops in your area.

For instance, a timing belt service for mine is $1,200 from the dealer, an independent was $850. Prices vary from dealer to dealer so if you go that route, shop around.
