Default A/C drier and compressor

Hi guys the AC compressor on my 1998 GS300 started to make a knocking noise ,sort of like a bearing or piston is shot. I know that I have to replace it,my question is this. Can anyone tell me WHERE the reciever/drier is?I know that this is usually replaced anytime you replace AC system parts. I am seeing a small box like thing on the compressor's suction hose but I am not sure if that is the reciever/drier. Thanks in advance.

Found it please disregard

The drier for the 98+ GS300/400 was replaced by the sub-drier. A new kind of drier that looks like a small bag located on the side of the condensor. You will have to remove the condensor in order to replace the drier.

If you look at the condersor( the small radiator in front of the radiator) you will see a round metal tube on the side of the condensor. The drier bag is located inside that round metal tube.

Thanks a lot I had actually found it but I was trying to figure out how to change it.It looks like I have a whole lot of work to do.I ordered the compressor ,It was making i knocking noise even though it was still cooling I thought that it may have been low on oil and maybe I should just add some ester oil. However with my luck the compressor is probably shot so i just went ahead and ordered it.Strngely enough it did not make noise when I revved the engine but only as I let off the gas and the engine was slowing down.I turned the compressor by hand and it was binding in one spot but free otherwise.

the knocking noise sort of sounded like money flying out of my pocket

The easiest way to remove the condensor out of the 98 GS300 is, evacuate the R134 freon from the system. You may have to get somebody with AC certified with proper recovery AC machine to do it.

1. Remove the air intake box.

2. Remove 2 10mm bolts that hold the AC lines.

3. Remove the radiator brackets that hold radiator in place.

4. Remove the condensor brackets and carefullly push the radiator back so you can slight out the condensor.

5. Use a 10mm Hex wrench to remove the bolt that sealed the drier.
