Default Best oil from Wal-mart shelf

Which oil is the best oil you can get off the wal-mart shelf?

I'm leaning toward 2 now Mobil 1 vs Syntec. I use to use Mobil 1 until i saw some test result that showed Syntec holds it lubricating properties longer. But Syntec is dino refined synthetic, not like Mobil 1.

There are also the others like Supertech Synthetic, and more.

also there is Shell Rotella T which I use in my Nissan Hardbody. it come in a good weight 5w40!!! super cheap $12.88 / gallon sale.

So which oil is the best? It would be best if you have a website, chart, pictures, test results, etc. that can prove your point, would be great. i like reading those things.

Thanks ahead for the info.

I just picked up 3-6 packs of Mobil 1 5w-30 at BJs Warehouse for $22 each pack.
What is the Wal-Mart pricing like?

I have used Mobil 1 for almost 20 years now and have had no reason to switch or hunt around.

Kinda have to put a grain of salt on test results. Numbers can be skewed to favor any party...More importantly, I would more concerned on which oil holds up in you particular vehicle and your driving habit . Only way to tell this is to have a used oil analysis performed on your spent oil. I think both are very good oils, they have different philosophies and on how to produce their synthetic.

Mobil 1 SuperSyn is $19.XX for 5 quarts.
Same price as costco on per quart price.

At Costco, you get 6 quarts, only 5 at Wally-World. Wal-Mart and Costco are the same distance from me in opposite directions, guess who gets my money...

Mobil 1 Synthetic is the obvious choice when buying the best oil on the shelf at Wal-Mart.

okay i did a search. this is what i found out

Mobil 1 has been around for a long time. Mobil 1 is made from lighter oils. or something to that extent.

Castro came out with Syntec, way after Mobil 1, they use a hydro crack method (not sure what its called) so its made straight from cruel oil.

General belief is Mobil 1's original method is better.

Mobil actually sued Castro saying Syntec should not be labeled synthetic.... but they lost.

So now there is a rumer that Mobil 1 is no longer manufactured from lighter oils. they are doing the same thing as syntec.

So is how is Mobil 1 manufactured?

Request a product brochure from the mobil 1 website. It should explain the process. I use to use Castrol Syntec 5W 50 in my older GM models with high milage & never had a problem......it was good stuff for the 3.8L V6. It never burned a drop once I made the switch.....but too thick for the Lexus with it's higher tech engine.

I was tempted to run Chevron Delo 400 15W-40 in my engine, but I d3ecided to find the 10W-30 version or use Ford/Motorcraft Powerstroke Diesel Engine Oil 10W-30 first before the 15W-40, but I ca only buy them 30 quarts at a time.

If one is burning some oil or you just want a slightly thicker grade & temperatures are not a concern, you might want to consider a 5W 40 grade in dino or synthetic.
