spark plugs for 99 gs300
my owners manual says that my car uses the denso platinums but i wanted to know if my car can run the irridium plugs by denso, since they don't need to be changed until 120k instead of 60k and also the manual states to only use dual electrode plug, are the irridiums dual electrode??? Any advice would help, thanks.
Phone a couple of Lexus dealers and speak to either the service manager or parts manager (or both) to get that question answered. Failing that, call Lexus head office directly & speak to an expert in that field. My 01' ES uses Denso iridium as factory equipment & just replaced them with same.
Recently, I believe Lexus recently approved the Denso Iridiums for the GS300. They were standard issue on the GS400 when released in '98, but a couple of years back, I believe Lexus started using the Iridiums for all of their models (all V6, I6, and V8 models).
For your application ('98 GS300), you can use the iridium Denso IK6 plugs (Lexus OEM plug manufacturer). However, NGK also makes iridium plugs as well.
Here's more info:

Good luck.

They are pretty simular in quality from what I've heard & read. I usually go with what Lexus originally equipped the car with.
The iridium plugs have a higher heat range over platinum plugs which is one reason why they are rated to last longer. Always make sure you put anti-seize compound on the spark plug threads when installing them.
