LX 470 60,000 mile service $1,500?
I currently have 62,000 miles on my LX 470 and called my local dealer to see what the 60,000 mile service runs. I almost fell down when he told me $1,500! A few questoins:
Is this an accurate price (it includes spark plugs)?
Should I consider taking it to an independent shop?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Ask your dealer for a quote for 60K service on the regular (as opposed to rough duty) service schedule; look in your Supplementary Owner's Manual to see the difference in what's done for the two schedules plus a definition of what constitutes rough duty.
My bet is that you, like most of us, don't fit the rough duty classification. The dealers, however, have discovered that many Lexus owners won't complain about "luxury" service.
Fyi, the difference between the two schedules for my RX300 (now departed) 60k service was $285 vs $1350.

It's depend on the year of your LX, because the newer LX don't need spark plugs until 90 K. You can look up in you owner manual for the spark plugs, timing belt replacing. But then, it's depend on the area you're live in. In Atlanta, the price for the 60K(without spark plugs) is around $580.00-$600.00. The big one is the 90K( with spark plugs) and water pump+timing belt, around $1,300.00. May be call around and get the details of what they do and don't do.

I got 1200 from Keyes Lexus. It a waste of money, for this one. I would recommend Luxury Motoworks in Monrovia, I was charge 225.00 and at least you could see what they are doing. Steve is agood guy and worked for lexus 13 years. Where ever you are at it's worth the drive down or up.
One thing, that I noticed from dealer, was the oil on the crossmember. Didn't believe they didn't even wipe it down.
