Hey guys,
Just walked out to my garage and noticed that my car (92 SC400) leaked some oil on the garage floor. I jacked the car up and took a peek under it to see what's leaking. It's my oil pan. I have no idea how easy or hard it is to replace. Can anyone give me any advise.
Thanks in advance,
Jake
the 1UZ-FE uses a 2-piece oil pan, so you have two gaskets, one for the steel lower pan, and one for the aluminum upper section. If you want to make sure the pan is leaking, clean off the oil pan, and add UV dye to the oil pan, drive for a few days, and use a flourscent blacklight to check the oil pan. Another way is is clean the pan and spray it with foot powder spray.
Most likely the leak is from your #2 oil pan, the steel pan where the oil drain plug located. It's not that hard to reseal the oil pan. You have to use Lexus/toyota black silicon called FIPG for oil pan and one tube is cost around $28.00.

wow, Toyota used RTV that early? I don't know why all auto makers now use RTV. Some dealers will tell you to use Permatex Ultra Grey or Ultra Black RTV instead.
