Default Dealer stripped oil pan threads

I have a 2010 ES350. Admittedly old, but I've always taken it to the dealer. They told my wife the oil pan threads were stripped and they needed to replace the pan for $900. Nobody has ever changed the oil but the dealer. They claim the threads "wear out over time"; that sounds unlikely to me. I think they broke it, probably using a power tool and not using proper torque, and they should fix it. Am I justified? Or do the threads really "wear out"? Thanks.

p.s. they also took 7 hours to do the oil change because they gave her a loaner, and didn't say the pan needed to be replaced until 5:00 PM when the techs had all left.

That dealer sounds shady to me. I'd get an other opinion. By the way, what is the dealers name?

They do not wear out. I've spent enough time at my friends service station to know the threads only go bad from over torquing. It doesn't take a power tool to strip threads, any idiot with a hand wrench could do it.
Dealer Service manager is full of it. The dealership should take full blame.

There is a million ways to repair the drain plug threads without doing the whole oil pan.

And I agree - the dealer should fix it.
