But the transmission slop came back. It briefly cleaned up some when they did the flash and also before when the dealer did a reset/relearn. And it seems like the flash may have done a reset/relearn as some of my settings changed elsewhere. (Maybe the same scenario)
My other daily is a tuned exhaust lightened 2017 F250 Powerstoke on 35” tires. The transmission tuning and power delivery on it is night and day better compared to the 600. It was smooth stock too but some dead pedal. I had another the same truck I left stock and it had tons of dead pedal. So some vehicles can be worse than others.
My weekend car has an SMG transmission but even with that the dealer was able to firm it up via programming when I did the pipes and tune elsewhere.
I have a crew work truck at my house someone dropped off earlier and I am going to drive it tomorrow to make sure I am not crazy with this transmission thing. Its a 23 F150 5.0 XL basic white truck.

Torque converter randomly locks up in moderate traffic, feel's like a new driver trying to learn clutch when letting off the gas (nothing crazy but it moves me in the seat some). Kinda annoying.
Rolling to a pedestrian, yield, or ‘California’ stop; when accelerating it will rev, accelerate forward, and then downshift to first or do something with the torque converter lock up. This is at like 2-4mph. Gives a little delay and kick. This is anytime other than absolutely grandpa driving. It will actually accelerate forward some and then shift to 1st, crazy I don’t need to be in second at 3mph unless its icy out, but the car knows when that is occurring with the warning in the cluster. Very annoying and causes some nervousness when trying to jump into traffic.
When coasting around 20 down to 10mph it will occasionally abruptly downshift, which sounds cool but is mildly annoying. Its almost feels like tow/haul mode in a gas F250 when there is nothing hooked to it.
I would only classify it as extremely sloppy and lazy. It wants to downshift into second or third early and buck you in the seat forward,, but won’t shift into first unless you do a complete proper stop (which isn’t safe at a yeild situation). But even then it will rev to the moon occasionally when taking off and sometimes not.
I drove another 24 that was traded in at 300 miles. It was similar enough to mine and that’s why I mention it on the forums. It could be a common problem but only affects a few.
I was talking to a mechanic at a dinner the other night and he said instead of jacking with pulling the ECM and sending it off for reprogramming to instead put some Dr Tranny Shutter Stop additive and if that doesnt fix it trade it for a Discovery..
The oil weight discussion on Mud has me thinking. Definitely going to use the GCC and Australian manual recommended oil weight next change.

My brian/foot, and accelerator feel like we are on different planets.
Makes things iffy when jumping out into Houston traffic.
Anyone else? Should i start a poll on here and Mud? Report to NTHSA?
They do take them seriously.
My bet is that the issue stems from the throttle control programming more so than the transmission but future Lexus updates may prove me wrong.
They even bought me new tires.
They took it serious at the corporate level but their engineering team said its normal. At that time it was the surging around shift points, which it does somewhat less after the recall. But now its a delay at accelerating from a Yield which is a huge issue in central Houston traffic (and I can say that in many languages and driving styles like I am completely in my own world). I am in the car most of the day checking properties and projects.

1. Lexus is acutely aware of the delayed throttle response at yield, rolling stop etc. They are holding diagnostic conference calls with their master diagnostic technicians regularly. This issue not only affects LX but also GX which helps as there are far more GXs in operation (enough cases came in to get it on the radar)
2. While the vehicle is performing as designed, they understand that they are disappointing their customers and are actively working on a fix.
3. No timing yet on the fix but there will be a fix.
4. Some customers report that the re-learn on the transmission fixes the issue albeit temporarily. For those that are interested, you can reset your transmission by disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes. Not a Lexus recommendation but just info for those interested in doing it.
5. Some customers have installed a Tom’s throttle controller. My connection says that this is a reputable company and it is highly unlikely that any issues would be created by using such an item.
Once I hear of an approved solution, I’ll re-post.
Hopefully it is just a software issue and not something hardware related like the torque converter or something.

Now that I know a permanent fix is coming at some point I wont be hyper focused on it.
my dealer offered to take it back. I love it too much to ever consider that. Aside from the lag at rolling stop I love everything about this rig.

The poor tuning of the transmission isn't involved with either of those.
I've been driving mine a bit since I had them re-learn my transmission and it is certainly performing better but not where I think it needs to be. My plan is to disconnect the battery every so often while I wait for the permanent software fix.
