Deciding between "new" GX 460 and "used" LX 570
#16
I was in your same position last year. I was "all in" on a 18' GX Luxury, but just waiting for the right deal to drop. Then I started looking at the LX forums.......I didn't want to pay the premium price for the 16' and up models, so I went to test drive a 15' LX. I really can't explain the difference in the LX. It felt so much better in every way.....luxury, seats (this was a big one), power, room, and so many more great things.
So, after some searching, I picked up the 15' LX last fall, and couldn't be happier with no regrets. Btw, I took it in to Lexus to get checked out and serviced. They gave me a new GX loaner that I drove around for a day. Although I love the look of the GX, it was clear to me that I made the right choice in the LX.
There are 2 downsides. One is gas mileage. It sucks. I'm averaging 13.5 - 14mpg around town. I think I am getting around 19mpg on highway. I have just come to accept it and don't let it bother me....I do wish the tank was larger though.
The other is the very dated infotainment system. I am a techie and like gadgets. I like the new infotainment systems on the 16+ models, but it is completely acceptable on my 15'. Plus it is very similar in look and feel as the new GXs. They haven't updated their infotainment to the new systems either.
I would definitely drive both, preferably right after each other to get the true feel for their difference.
Good luck

Pole Position
The Gx gas mileage isn't great either- the difference is almost about 1-2mpg either city or highway.

Excellent question - and the answer varies form individual to individual. I will pick LX every time. GX is just too small for me and with LX I can get the off road & towing capabilities without sacrificing on luxury. LX is best for the long hauls while GX can give you a little bit agility if you are in city environment.
