Jonny Lieberman goes off-road with the Lexus LX570.
I posted a copy of this in Car Chat...might as well also put one here.
This is an interesting video from Motor Trend's Jonny Lieberman on the current-generation LX570...with some comparisons to its Toyota Land Cruiser brother. Most SUV owners, of course, (maybe Jeep Wrangler owners excepted) do not go off-road (indeed, many insurance policies won't cover it), but, for the estimated 5% who do, he gives a good demonstration of rock-climbing in Utah. He injects some occasional flashes of humor, like with his Survival book. It's painful to watch him bang up the front and rear overhangs of a $100,000 SUV while bouncing it off over rocks, but he makes a point of what it can do in a jam. He likes the LX's Turn Assist feature, which helps it make tighter turns than the Land Cruiser by locking an inside rear wheel, but criticizes the Lexus spindle-grille for less approach-clearance over rocks. He almost sounds like a salesperson, though, trying to convince you that this vehicle is worth 100K....I guess it would be the same way with a Range-Rover or Mercedes Gelandewagen LOL.
Enjoy.
