Cracked Driver Side Mirror Casing
I have a 2008 LX 570 and I cracked the casing on the front by the mirror. Would it be possible to get a new case for the mirror or do I have to replace the entire mirror? The cost of the entire mirror/motor/casing is around $800 but I can get the casing itself from a junk yard for much cheaper.
Hopefully someone knows more to be able to assist me. Thanks.

i can tell you from personal experience that you can do it yourself BUT.......it'll involve taking the entire door apart just to get to the screws that hold the mirror assembly to the door.
i myself am trying to figure out how to remove the glass from the mirrors so i can replace the bulbs in the puddle lights with LED bulbs.

LZMF1, Go to this website precisionled.com for info on changing your puddle lights to LED. They may even have a video on site.

ok kids, an update!
i assumed it would be like some of the other lexus models where you have to remove the glass, disconnect the wires and then take the mirror casing apart but as it turns out all you have to do is remove the glass. if you look at the pic you'll see 2 notches(where my fingertips are). i used a trim removal tool to pry the glass out.....you can probably do it with a flat head screwdriver but be very careful....i will not be held responsible if you break your stuff.
once the glass is removed you will easily be able to remove the bulb and replace it with the bulb of your choice
i held off for as long as possible but now i have LEDs everywhere in the LX
i'll post pics later when it gets dark out.
