Nice Truck but Can I get Used to the Size?
Had an extended test drive today with an 09 LX. Fit and finish are fantastic. Engine is like butter. Interior is wonderful. My only concern is that the truck is very large driving and feeling, at least at first. I currently own a GX470 and have owned 2 prior LX's and 1 GX. This is the biggest of the bunch and I wonder if those who own them get used to the size? Maybe its the large hood that makes it feel that way. I'm on the fence but really like the truck. Do any owners have words of wisdom here? Is this "large" feeling something that passes over time in others' experience? Also, what type of mileage are you getting. My GX averages 17.5. Thanks.

LX Size
We've had the 08 LX since Dec and love it-no problems and drives nice. Average mileage in suburbs is 12-13mpg, and 18mpg on the interstate
Ride is smooth. Yes the LX is big but smaller than Sequoia we owned. Tried the GX and this LX is head and shoulders better and really not that much bigger dimension wise, but interior much bigger

The big difference between the LX570 and LX470 is that the 570 is beefier and more bulky. The wheelbases are the same and the size is about 3 inches longer. The LX570 is precieved to be much larger than the LX470.

I haven't driven the LX570, so I can't comment on that vehicle. However, twice -- once about 2 years ago and once this week -- my wife and I've gone test-driving LX470's thinking of replacing our GX with one. Despite the fact that we like the extra space in the LX, and we like the significantly higher level of interior finish, neither of us can warm up to the sluggish feeling that the extra ~900 pounds of bulk causes, and the feeling of riding atop a flag pole in a windstorm. The GX feels like a sports car compared to the LX470. I'm surprised that the LX470 is so "wallowy" and am hopeful that the 570 has addressed that undesirable trait.

I haven't driven a LX 570 yet but when I was shopping for a new SUV back in 2006, I test drove an 07 GX470 and a 07 LX470. To me, the LX felt and drove like an old Buick. And the LX was a dog for acceleration. I also didn't really notice the extra room the LX was supposed to have inside, in fact I felt that the GX had more head room. I also felt that the LX470 had an old mans stodgy look to it from the outside. Just to squared off looking, no matter what angle I viewed it from.
So I'm waiting to see the new GX460 and then I may get either the new GX or an LX. Well that is if I like them enough to justify giving up my present 07 GX.
