Default 2008 LX570 135k mi

This is at a local dealer. $22k has two minor accidents. One owner tho. It’s got typical surface scratches, dripping condensation in one fog light, and the hitch has substantial surface rust but there’s no other rust on the undercarriage. I feel like the cowardly lion when I say “talk me out of it!!!”

It drives like a dream. Windows air suspension brakes and all of it is tight.

has electric 3rd row seats, entertainment package, bells and whistles. Oh and did I mention it drives like a dream.

what say you? This is going to be daily driver while my GX cream puff is being fixed.

but I don’t drive much.

I say your truck doesn't have air suspension...you could try "hydraulic" next time.

Have you input the vin at lexus.com's owners section and verified routine servicing and maintenance were done on time??

I know the gx and am trying to get up to speed on the LX. Thank you for your indulgence. The vin isn’t coming up on Lexus.com but it is on carfax and other vin check sites using copy paste from the dealer’s page. I thought O’s and zeros might be off but generally O’s aren’t used to avoid confusion.

O's and 0's may or may not be in sequence. Try a google for "VIN format" or similar. If you're close to a Lexus dealer, anybody in service can give you a print out...just say you're thinking about a purchase.

I sent it to my service advisor to look up. He’s been taking care of my GX for 17 years. I’d like to use the Lexus system so I’m not bugging them. I’m shopping when they aren’t open. Thanks!

$22k is a good price, assuming the accidents were truly minor. The obvious issue is that if and when you go to sell the car you'll have to talk people through that. You'll also never know the true quality of the repair or severity of the accident. For reference, we bought a 2016 Highlander from Carmax that had an unreported accident (it was on the Carfax, but not the Autocheck). The accident had actually been severe enough to shift the engine block and cause a major head gasket leak. Needed a new engine. At the same time, my daughter has now hit our garage twice in our Accord and it's just required fenders and headlights.

Given the general dishonesty and greed of people involved in the used car market, my advice would be to spend more on a no-accident truck.

$22 is the negotiated price. They wanted more. You’re right. It’s so hard to know about the severity of an accident. My metric has been to see if the owner kept the car after the accident. This guy did. So if it was repaired by an insurance claim it didn’t exceed 75% of their always low ACV. This was a one owner car. That’s compelling. My Lexus service person ran the VIN and said the records look good but beware of rust. I’m taking it to him for a PPI today. The condensation in the fog lamp lens where the accident happened concerns me. It could be nothing. Or it could be a sign of bad things ahead. I’m not marginally qualified to know any of this. I’ll yield to the pros and spend a little to avoid a giant pothole.

thank you. (It will probably be sold before my analysis paralysis heals.)
