That's correct. Technically it's not an "extended warranty", it's a service contract. It's not backed by Lexus, rather a private insurer. Also, these service contracts can be cancelled before they end and a pro-rated refund will be issued.

 

The Platinum, gold VSAs seem to indicate the factory 4/60k as a requirement to purchase. Its on the LFS website I`ll post a link when I have time. I wonder if that has changed.

Does anyone know if you live in another state and call a Lexus dealer in another state and buy the Platinum warranty if it is valid? I been hearing mixed things on this that you need to get it in person.

I have no idea, but you could make a call or 2 and report back.

 

I believe that there are only a couple of states that do not allow this. I’d just call/email the finance managers.
