Default NEED LX advice??

I have several Lexus, 2006GX300, Wife has 2010ES350, I now have 2010 RX350 with 125000--. Im thinking more comfy as Im 83 and wondering about the LX s as I need to carry stuff to the sailboat Im restoring.. I have read on here today that all LX are basically unchanged since 2008? So a older one might make sense? What is the diff down thru the years. ? Thanks for any help. George

Purely off the top of my head:

2013+ = some minor interior enhancements
2016+ = added 8-speed transmission and a lot more creature comforts inside

That's really it - I don't think the towing capacity has changed over the years. The thing with the LX (and Land Cruiser for that matter) is they hold their resale values super well so as you look for older ones, you need to assess whether you're ok spending $20k for a 10 year old vehicle with 150k+ miles =) Another option you could explore is a 08 (or newer) Tundra that has the muscle to tow your boat without too much $$$.

Are safety features important? Check out a later model LX 570 brochure and/or info on lexus.com for some info on what’s available nowadays. And the views from the multiple cameras are helpful too. IMO, getting a newer model with safety features is a form of insurance.

I recently handed down a Land Cruiser that was my daily driver to one of my sons. Had it for 14 years. Got me one of those newfangled LX570’s with lots of new safety features. One evening my wife told me that she can’t see very well at all. She was driving her 2001 LX 470 and said the LED lights on my new, used LX 570 were so much brighter.

I decided that I’d never forgive myself if she got into an accident, day or night, that a newer vehicle _may_ have helped prevent. We went shopping that weekend and she’s now a happy camper in a 2017 GX 460.

Cheers,
John

Aesthetically, 2013 had the grill change - I personally prefer the 2008-2012 exterior, but had a hard time finding one with low miles. I just came across a 2010 with <60k miles and <$30,000 on eBay - Looks clean.

200 Series MY Changes 2008-2014 will get you as far as 2014. Edmunds is good for '15 to current, as is online Lexus literature.

the upgrades in 2016 were significant and the newer car (2016 or newer) drive and handle much better. Its worth the upgrade if you can afford it.
