Finally Bought
If you've ever owned a newer Escalade, you'll know why I wasn't happy! Never liked it. Anyway, so while shopping for new rigs (limited inventory choices/colors/options remaining for 2018) we came across a used one. 14K miles. $99K MSRP. One owner, dealer serviced, mint inside & out, the headphones weren't even unwrapped for the RES, all the books and records. It smells and looks extremely well cared for - appears as new as it would be if it had only a few hundred miles on it. Original owner purchased 12/2017.
I didn't necessarily want the cool box & rear entertainment...but fine either way. Picked up the rig yesterday, $80K on the dot. A few grand less than we could get offers for on new rigs. I figure my lowest offer was $83.3K and an 8 hour round trip to pick up. So essentially the original owner rented my rig from me for $.21/mile and I get what I want. Very happy at $20K off sticker and a virtually-new vehicle.
Atomic Silver w/ Black, 3 row, Luxury, HUD, Levinson, 21" rims, RES, cool box & the misc add on stuff like mats/all weathers/nets/wheel locks, etc.
First impressions -
- I was skeptical of the reviews about brake pedal feel/grab. It is annoying now that I've driven a few hours. However, you do get used to minimizing the effects.
- The reviews also complained about driving in straight lines (amount of required driver input) and lack of power. Both of these are obvious to me as well - but I don't care. Plus, I plan to supercharge it down the road.
- Rear legroom is adequate but certainly lacking. Our standard wheel base RR had 6" more legroom for the 2nd row. That's a big difference. Of course the LWB has 6' more, but that's not fair to compare.
Taking a road trip with the RR and the LX from TX to LAX via NV for SEMA and some meetings. Will be 8 of us (5 kids + the mother-in-law). Can't beat the RR as far as ride, and with the LWB you can pretty much park the LX inside between the 2nd row and the front seats...will post up any findings after the long haul. And no, I won't complain about mpg...never have, never will.
