Default Feedback on this deal

I was originally focused on a CPO 2015 LX but I don't know that we will be able to come to an agreement. That said I found a non-CPO 2015 in my second or third choice color at a Non-Lexus dealer.

It appears to be a acquired by the dealer via an auction and it's not a local car but from a southern state. It's located a few hours from me so I haven't seen in person but the pictures look good and the Carfax is clean and it does appear to have a regular service history on the Lexus Drivers site.

The only thing that gave me pause was an entry in the history of refinishing a portion of the front bumper. The salesperson also called to my attention a dent on the front edge of the fender right by the headlight. He attempted to fix with paint less dent repair but ultimately made the call to fix and repainted that section of the fender. My hunch is that the bumper work in the history and this dent are from the same incident and it was likely a minor fender bender but it's made me reconsider the car.

It's got 48k miles and they have come down to $52.9. Does this seem like a fair deal all things considered? Would you be leery of the car or am I overthinking it? I did appreciate the dealer calling it to my attention but now that it's been repaired I doubt anyone would know unless the see the history report on the Lexus site.

I'd offer $50K cash and see what happens.

Dealer "called it to your attention" as it's probably in the CarFax.

Have you run the VIN through the owners section on Lexus.com to check maintenance records? I'd not be leery unless maintenance looked sporadic.

Which southern state? If I were thinking of the truck, I'd like a bunch of pictures of the underside with the lower cover panels removed. I'd be looking for corrosion...same quick check by pulling the plastic door sill plate off and checking for moisture underneath...hurricane exposure maybe. I would also recommend a pre-purchase inspection (ppi) by a shop that knows what to look for and check on a 200 series...it's a very cheap $100 or so investment.

Report back with what you end up with and hth.

I've seen the Carfax and there is not an accident listed. I've also run the vin on the Lexus site and the service history looks good. All regular maintenance intervals from the same dealer. That's where I saw the entry of the bumper refinishing. The Lexus site indicates the car was sold and had all service at a suburban Atlanta Lexus dealership so that didn't raise any flags for me. The bumper in the Lexus history plus the recent dent repair with paint are what is making me hesitate. It could be a standard fender bender/parking lot accident but I will never really know. However, just about any other car could have the same thing and I may not find it because it was repaired and isn't in the Lexus history or on the Carfax. The car is a new arrival to the dealer, plus they just repaired the dent and the Carfax has no mention of it, so I don't think they will go much if any lower.

Big purchase get the color you want, if that's important. Since not CPO get an inspection. With all the hurricanes and floods I would want to make sure it has not been under water.

What color is it? Have you had it in low-angle sunlight to see if the fender paint matches under those revealing conditions? The mica/metallic paint colors are hard to match, and they sometimes don't stay matched over time.

I haven’t seen in person since it’s 3 hours away. Color is the silver. That’s not considered mica/metallic is it?

Silver is one of the colors that, generally speaking, is notoriously hard to match so that it doesn't stand out in certain lighting conditions. Silver exterior automotive paint has particles (either metallic or mica, depending upon the paint).
