Having spent time in all of them, the only big luxury SUV I like better overall than the LX is the Range Rover. Classier, better looking IMHO, drives better, much lighter and less burdensome feeling to drive. What would scare me away though is reliability. I know people with even quite new ones (like a few months old) with annoying quality and electronic problems. Gauges stop working, stuff like that. Really a PITA to deal with.

Range Rover would be the king if it were not such a problem-ridden PITA. Warranty or not,who wants to deal with constant electric gremlins, warning lights lighting up like a Xmas tree and twice a month service trips. Full sized RR only though, because the Sport really looks like a Ford Explorer

The Sports are nice too, especially in upper trims where they have the body colored cladding, etc. I agree though I would want the full sized Range Rover.

You're right about the annoyance factor even with the warranty...

Default Lexus LX gets serviced Range Rover gets repaired

My service advisor has worked for Range Rover, BMW and Lexus, all under the same ownership umbrella. He told me on more than one occasion that RR and BMW come in for repairs while Lexus come in for regular service.
Never owned RR but several people I worked with did and they never bought a second one. I had a BMW 700 series and it was constantly in for repairs. If it hadn't had the extended warranty I bought it would have bankrupted me!
The only problem I have had with Lexus was an SC 430 we had as a fun car and the battery would go dead if we didn't drive regularly.

For the naysayers here who continue to learn the hard way Jeep Grand Cherokee has a much better interface and ergonomics than lexus . The trackhawk is the top of line with 707 hp and will run circles around a RR. It Is the best all around suv if u can deal with below Lexus quality. I would of bot if it had a Lexus badge o it

This the first time I have heard of a BMW 700 series. ;-) Either I don't get out much or you might be talking about something I don't know. In any case, fun to drive = less reliable. Boring = more reliable. Anyone want to second that?

RR= rich guys Camry without the reliability. The sport is the only halfway good looking one. The 200 series is a beast. Big heavy 6000+lbs, dependable, reliable and personally I know will save your life.

I think I will stick with the LX570 as long as the LX is available.

I wonder why the majority of SUV's United Nations buys and uses out in the middle of nowhere are Toyo LC's? Why don't they use RR or Jeep Grand Cherokee or? Hummmmmm, maybe they don't want to be stranded in the middle of the desert or some jungle with bad people chasing them and firing weapons at them while trying to get out quick!!! Look at it from the reverse angle.........why are the bad guys in the middle of the desert over there driving around in mostly Toyo pickup trucks?

The design engineer for the Land Cruiser and Lexus stated that these vehicles are designed to last 25 years in a Third World country so that kind of speaks to how they are build and their durability and there reliability

BMW was a 735 sedan. Fun to drive but spent a great deal of time in the shop.
Even had the driver seat back break so it was permanently reclined. Would have been $1500 if not under warranty. That was about 25 years ago

You really can’t use an experience from 25 years ago to make a buying decision today. All cars are way more reliable than they were 25 years ago.

I owned a Range Rover in the past and during that time I learned an important rule:
Drive a Land Rover if you want to go on a safari and drive a Land Cruiser if you want to get back.

Yes you can, I bought my wife her first Lexus (LS 400) in about 1990 and her latest is a 2017 LS 460 and mine is a 2017 LX 570. Decision was right get then and is right now.
