Its probably not just me judging from lack of new threads and hardly anyone here posting, hey, I got the new LX.

Nothing special and about 3 years late if you ask me. Would rather wait for 2019 and see what they do.

Well, as you can probably tell from the other threads, I did buy the new 2016 LX and have been very happy with it so far. It seems "pulled together" and the tech seems great so far. I get that some people don't like the grill, and that people expect an all new model in 2018 or 2019, but I'm having trouble understanding what people feel is missing versus today's competition. As I drive it I see more and more features that were re-engineered for durability or luxury beyond earlier LX models. Many of the panels that had wear from my past LX and LS are now more rugged or better designed.

The Mercedes S550 is great, but the LX has all the same tech features, and is more reliable. So, I'm interested-- what is missing from the 2016 LX that Mercedes, BMW or Audi have that should be there from a tech or driving experience perspective in a 2016 SUV?

Were the BMW or Audi to actually be used off-road like a Land Cruiser, the significant "missing" thing is a transfer case...the only area where LX's follow LC tradition off-road is the middle east.

Reliability is assumed v. an MB, BMW, or Audi anything.

Any u-tube test I've ever seen with either an LX or LC evaluated against MB, BMW, Audi, and Rover have shown the Toyota product in first place. I'd comment on my '01 LX prowess in the boonies, but I doubt that would make any difference to someone stuck on MB or the others.

Lexus lit suggests the 16 lx has a 2 speed transfer case. I don't understand your comment that suggests it lacks one.

My bad and thanks for pointing it out. Post corrected.
