Default 15k Service? Guidance, please?

Hello friends,

Our dear LX is coming up on 15k miles and the light just came on for its 15k service. After checking the book, I realize that the main stuff with 15k is:

- Rotate tires
- "Check everything" and top off fluids.

My local tire shop already does free rotations....is it worth paying (what I assume is at least $150+ to "check everything" on the LX?

Does not doing such scheduled maintenance have any warranty implications?

Thank you in advance!

I alway have my oil/filter changed every 5k miles so at that time I have them do their normal fluid checks. I don't know how old your LX is but I have my brake fluid changed every 2 years, if it's been 2 years have that changes and have them check your fluid levels if your concerned. Your warranty is fine they would have to prove that by not checking you caused the problem. Just don't say OK to the 15k service. Like on my 30k service I had the required items that were indicated to be changed done and I told them with the oil/filter change to check all fluid levels.

Max707,

Thanks for the quick response!

It's a 2014 model and only has 15k miles...its used primarily for my wife's work commute. I'd like to get on a 10k oil change routine (with Synthetic), unless we ever start towing or doing "off-road" stuff regularly. That said, based on what I've seen, it seems like for 15k, I'll just have our tire shop do the rotation...and then check fluids myself and then gear up for the 20k service in a few months. Thank you again!!

I'm getting my Oil/filter changed today at Lexus of Austin. I'll ask for their list of things they check on a normal oil filter service. Should include everything on the list. It did in Vegas, Atlanta and KCMO.
