I would like to know if somebody has experience or knows how to upgrade the hard-drive on this unit.

Also, what kind of hard-drive interface does it uses? A standard one SATA, USB, PATA or propietary model?

I know this is a very old post, but trying to be helpful. The hard drive unit that came in the early cars, the Gen 5 navigation unit, is a Hitachi Endurastar J4k30-30. The Model number is HEJ423030F9AT00. It is ATA 100 and 30.01 GB.

The Denso part number is 86845-50021-A (413700-0471)

 

The currently installed disk on 2014 LX570 is a 60 Gb SSD, branded by Denso (manufactured by Hitachi). Has to be prepared for Lexus, as a blank disk will not just work.
