What is under my driver seat?
Welcome all. I took delivery of my 2020 LX570 the first of the month and could not be more pleased. My question is, what is under my drivers seat that kinda feel like I’m sitting on an ostrich egg. I took it by the dealer and said that is normal.
Remove the 4 seat bolts, then tip the drivers seat up and back to rest against the second row seat, and take a good look under there. If like mine, there are seat motors, ducts for the HVAC, and the Levinson amplifier.
I'll take ten minutes to remove the bolts, another 10 to replace them, and as much time as you need to nose around under there. No need to disconnect any wiring and such. Run the seat fully back to expose the front two bolts, and fully forward to access the rear two. The bolts will be pretty tight, so use a quality 6 point socket for best mechanical advantage and to reduce risk of rounding off bolt heads.
And if there is no carpet over the amplifier well, consider that a blessing. When the amplifiers were carpeted over some failed due to heat buildup. The amp has cooling fans but the carpet blocks airflow. Replacement units are over $1,200 and Lexus is unable to repair them due to their contract with Levinson. They will gladly sell you a new unit, though,
BYW, the plastic covers for the seat bolts will just pop off with a bit of prying, and then willsnap right back on.
