Pricing -2001 LX470
Hello,
I have the chance to pick up a 2001 LX 470 with 135K miles from a family friend. I was trying to get some insight into what would be a fair price. It's been well maintained. I've looked at closed auctions on eBay, but haven't found much to comare. KBB says private party that is "very good" ranges between $5,903 - $7,801. I've never owned a Lexus before and thought this could be a great opportunity.
I attached some pictures.
Any insight on price is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

What does it look like underneath...i.e., up on a rack with the under-frame panels removed...something I'd check given your location.
Are the third row seats available?

The 3rd row seats are available. They're in good shape. I haven't had a chance to get it on the rack yet. I was going to try and figure out a price, then take it to my mechanic and go from there. Thoughts on where you'd start price wise? A bulk of the miles are highway miles. This vehicle was mostly kept in Sedona, AZ during the winter, but not this year.

As a complete swag, since we bought our 100 in 2009 and aren't in the market now, would be to split the difference and offer $6000 cash. A pile of hundred's tends to really grease the skids, in my experience.

$6k for a 100 series with 135k miles is a great deal if there's no/minimal rust. I think these tend to sell above those KBB values, but perhaps that's a regional thing. In the west where rust is minimal or non-existent these rigs will go for 300k miles with limited investment in maintenance and maintain a value above $5k.
The gold color is usually not a price adder and may make it harder to sell private party, so you'd have that in your favor, price-wise.

I just got through a 3 month long multi-state search for my LX470 and they do go for more than KBB. I tried on several deals to negotiate based on KBB and with the sellers holding and selling to others for more than what KBB listed them for. Maintenance, condition and history are huge and the fact that the miles are so low on this one I would be willing to offer up to $9k for it, and have seen others sell for more. This assumes it very well preserved and their are no signs of rust, damage, abuse or neglect.
