Default Speaker removal - 1997 LX450

Hi gang,

i need to remove/replace the drivers side door speaker. Does the speaker grill cover pop off
or do I need to pull the door panel off?

Thanks everyone.

It may stink, but you're looking at no more than 10 minutes per side to remove the panels to access speakers.

Definitely not major surgery.

Yeah well....don’t make assumptions until you’ve met the surgeon. Thanks everyone

Well, no assumptions were made.

It's easy-peasy. Assuming you have a good set of panel removal tools you're 90% of the way there. Add a 10mm socket to remove the bolts along the bottom and a phillips screwdriver (though a real surgeon will have a set of JIS drivers) and you are ready to rock. Once you access the oem speaker and remove it, upgrading to a different speaker may require drilling a new mounting hole or 2.

Thanks hankind. I do have all of those tools. When I started removing the panel, I noticed it was loose in one spot just in front of the speaker. When I pressed against the panel, the resonating noise disapppeared. Long story short, the speaker is fine - it was the loose panel resulting from a broken grommet causing the problem.

Found a replacement grommet in my medical kit and all is well.

Thnaks everyone.

I'm glad you got it fixed.
