brake grinding sound under the hood
I posted this video on IH8MUD but no luck still.
It did it once and then didn't do it again for about a month. I started it and right away it started sounding like a grinding sound from under the hood. I was parked and the sound resembled something metal spinning and catching something. It did a few times and then stopped.
Then it started doing it more often, then every day. It was always just for a second right after I started it. Then the alarm started going off after the grinding sound happened a few times. All the lights on the dash were on. I would turn the car off, then restart it with the alarm still going on. Then all of a sudden, everything back to normal.
There has been no change in braking but the alarm is there to tell me something is wrong.
I took the motor down to an electric motor rebuild shop but they said the motor was fine. I ordered a booster/ accumulator/ motor assembly but it arrived broken and I sent it back.
I ordered a master cylinder rebuild kit but I have no idea if it is related. The brakes never felt bad and as far as I know there is nothing moving in the master cylinder when the car is parked and the brakes are not depressed.
The grinding sound seemed to be unaffected by stepping on or not touching the brake pedal.
Any ideas?
