'04 LX470 DRL's
Hi All,
I need a little help. I'd like to change my DRL bulbs to 100 watt from the 60 watters that are in it now. I think I did it in my '01 without any problems. Can anyone offer some advice.
Thanks

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the help. However, my intent is to get the extra brightness from the 100 watt bulbs. Won't I lose that if i do what you suggested?

Your first post..."I'd like to change my DRL bulbs to 100 watt from the 60 watters that are in it now."
So, I suggested swapping the high beams from oem to 100 watt'ers.
Since the DRL system puts the bulbs in series when the DRL's are on, your current 60 watt bulbs are running at 30 watts each, and the 100 watt bulbs you want to change to will run at 50 watts each...i.e., they will be brighter than the oem bulbs.
If you feel you need more brightness during daylight hours, just turn on the headlights.

You're very welcome.
One thing to think about...high beams in your LX use reflector housings. If you're doubling the wattage, you may be blinding oncoming cars at night unless you're careful to re-aim the lights as required.
In my case, I updated the projector low beams to HID bulbs (DDM Tuning...google). The improvement in light throw essentially made the high beams redundant, and I'm not throwing light into the other lane.
I disconnected the DRL circuit completely, but I continue to use low beams on 2-lane roads.

...E.g., the same bulbs are used for high beams in both my '01 LX and new-to-me '13 Land Cruiser. High beam lighting in the LX is dismal; replacing the low beams with 50 watt HID bulbs made the high beams redundant.
The Cruiser has excellent lighting with the oem high beams.
Without question, the best bulb performance I've seen is using GE 4309L landing light bulbs for driving lights...100 watts, flat lens, great reflector. But they need to be added as driving lights.

Any way of running that power to your turn signals? when ignited they are quite bright. The Tacoma/4-runnner look.
Obviously wouldn't want to loose the turn signal effect though.
