Lexus LX 470 replace windshield wipers
It's not as easy as one would think.....
Does anyone know how to replace the windshield wipers on the driver and passenger side of the LX 470?
Thanks in advance!

I have never replaced the wipers on my 01, but I am sure that Walmart, Advanced Auto and Auto Zone all have a policy where they will install wiper blades free of charge if your buy the wiper blades from them..Check it out...Hope this helps...

Not everyone Knows off the top of their head how to do thing, a sarcastic response isn't needed. To the op to remove the wiper, simply pull it up from the windshield, and pull the wiper away from the arm and it will unlock, you will find will figure it out once you take a good look at it.

With toyota blades, you need to use toyota refills. Just go to your Toyota dealer and ask for wiper blade inserts for the same year Landcruiser as your LX. The LX and LC use virtually all the same parts...same brake parts, suspension parts, same wiper blades, starter, etc. Just the cosmetic stuff like lights and interior parts are different. I get my refills for around $5 per blade. You pull the insert out from the outside (side away from the windshield). You need to kind of stretch the end so the rubber thing locks it in on the bottom stretches so it can pass the locking thing. Pay close attention to those metal stiffeners. They need to go in a special way. IIRC, the driver's side ones are inverted compared to the windshield while the PS ones curve with the windshield.

The Lexus LX470 has the most common hook-end wiper arms. Purchase the replacement blades first and there will be additional instructions/illustrations on the replacement packages. I highly recommend the trico neoforms that are included on the link below. Locate and press the tab or button where the wiper blade is inserted into the hook of the wiper arm and pull wiper blade out of hook. You may have to rotate and flex the blade to make enough clearance for the hook to pass through.
Here is an installation video - watch the hook videos: https://www.wipers123.com/wiper_blad...ion_videos.php

IIRC, the trick is to stretch the rubber at the end when you slide it out of the retainer. This assumes you're using Toyota refills. BTW, those metal stiffeners that fit in the grooves in the refills go on a certain way (one side is curved with the windshield, one is curved the other way; can't remember which side is which, but pay attention when you remove the refill).

Easiest way is to turn the key to the on position and turn on the wipers. When the wipers run up the windshield turn off the key. Lift up each wiper arm and there is a small tab on the wiper blade where it inserts into the arm. Press in the tab and slide the blade down towards the bottom of the windshield being careful not to drop the wiper arm as it could break the windshield. Lightly place the arm back on the windshield until blades are reinstalled. With the insert grab the end that is flat and not the arrow looking end. Just pull that end out and down and the insert should come out of the blade.
