In dash Nav
If anybody can help me in deciding which unit is better in Sound quality and nav...Kenwood 5120 / Pioneer Avic-D3 /Eclipse 6620 or any other unit.I am so much confused. The unit is for 2001 LX470 in dash nav.
Is the audio wires are connected with climate control for Lexus? I am not sure
I read some threads..So Please if anyone can help me...
Thanks and Have a good and safe holidays.

i had the eclipse avn 6600 put in mine. the eclipse unit is exactly the same unit as the one being offered on lexus cars.
i am not 100% sure, but climate control is another control which does not share same wires as audio.
as for the bang for the buck, i would take 6620 as it is much easier unit to learn (atleast to me) and you can add other aftermarket items later on such as the side view camera on the lx570.

I have been researching this issue for the last couple of weeks. The only thing I could find that was possible was to purchase the manual controls for the climate control. From my dealer, cost was a little over $2000. just for that. I found online I could get the same parts for around $1300. So I figured that by the time I bought a new Alpine, Kenwood or Eclipse for anywhere from $ 900 to $1700 plus installation. You would be getting close to the $5000 mark. Then resale value would be decreased because of not OEM, deceided that it was not worth it. So I purchased he ultimate lockpick 1 and will install that so that at least the bluetooth functions will be usable in motion and I stuck my Garmin NUVI 760 portable unit down by the stick shift and have nav wars and laugh at the OEM unit as my little $300 portable puts it to shame. Now if you only travel in larger cities, the OEM unit is not too bad, even though the Garmin NUVI still has better map details that the OEM.
Learned my lesson on this one, will not buy another Lexus with built in navigation, will have an aftermarket installed instead. And make sure it has Garmin Data base. JMHO Good Luck

i would agree with SAR41WY, i would just get a decent portable unit, stick it somewhere at the vents and call it a day- its just not worth putting money in a car when you time to sell you wont nothing for-

@SAR41WY, Do you have the part numbers for the manual climate controls? I have a 2005 LX 470 and I want to replace the dumb nav with an aftermarket head unit and move the climate controls.
Would PM you, but I'm new here and they limited my ability to do that.
thanks

Manual control Pt. number.
No, I just gave up on trying to replace my unit. I still use a Garmin unit in the vehicle. Just purchased the new Garmin Drive 50, it's also a Dash Cam. Works great. Good Luck!!!
