Hello, I see all these posts about the JL 6W0-8 working, and great threads on installs. But no one seems to list how they got around the 4 wires going to the factory ML sub vs the 2 wires used on the new JL. Old ML is dual Voice coil, new JL is single voice coil. How do I wire it correctly. Please advise. Wire colors, and where each goes would be a great help. Thanks!

So the JL Audio 6W0-8 subwoofer we had installed last year blew this past weekend. I cannot find a 6W0-8 anywhere to purchase as a drop in replacement and now looking for a compact powered subwoofer instead. I'm thinking that my best bet is to disconnect the JL subwoofer and purchase a powered Bazooka tube (or something similar) and wire that in. Do any of you have any recommendations for me?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Jayson--I have been fighting the same problem on my '04. Cannot find a drop in replacement here in Houston. It looks like Parts Express has several 8 ohm options which should work. www.partsexpress.com

Jayson: I still have the JL in mine, but I was thinking yesterday that I wanted to reseal it in the enslosure as I never siliconed it in and I have some rattling from not sealing it. On a side note, if my JL ever goes then I am going to the stock sub + and - wires as signal level inputs to an amp and run whatever sub I want. I am done messing around trying to find anonther 6WO-8. They are insanely expesive and hard to find! Plus, a standard kicker, or fosgate 8, 10, 12, or 15 would sound/work so much better.

It's so annoying that Mark Levinson didn't design their audio systems correctly. I remember way back in 2004 when I took my GS in my service writer said that he already had two customers bring in their brand new GS cars with blown drivers in the front doors. The speakers are being tasked with reproducing sound that they're not physically capable of handling so they blow. I wonder why no one at Lexus caught this? It's pretty easy to blow the speakers, the sub on our LX blew when I had the windows down driving through my neighborhood with the radio on. I didn't have the volume anywhere near an obnoxious level, so it's disappointing that the sound systems don't work as advertised.

I have a JL 6W0 sub that I had in my LX. I no longer have the truck, but if you're interested in the sub, I'd be willing to part with it for $40. You pay the shipping. Let me know. My email is bajdek@comcast.net.
