The '04 has the rear backup camera and, I think, gen-4 nav (I know the 04 landcruiser has the gen-4, but there were also nav unit issues on the LC...some failures, which cost $5K to replace). That's one thing I like about the gen-3 nav...tried and true, as it was used for several years prior. The transmission dipstick disappeared in '04, so if you ever plan to change your own transmission fluid, this would be an issue. The fluid type went from T-IV to WS (Toyota claims WS is good for 100K mi [no fluid is good that long]; you should probably change it more like 60K mi. '03 T-IV ATF should be changed at 30K intervals). Also, the '03 used the Toyota long life coolant (30K) while the '04 uses the super long life (100K mi). What all this means is that until about 90K mi, the '04 should have lower dealer maintenance costs at 30K & 60K miles.

It was either the '04 or '05 that has a lumbar support from the front passenger seat. This would be a nice feature to have. Otherwise, there is no quantum leap until '06 with the introduction of variable valve timing.

Access the lexus.com and look for the library , you can search previous year's options. This should help.
