po420 code and on/off check engine lights
2006 LX470, 180K miles. Well maintained.
Hi! My check engine light keeps going on or off, about 3 or 4 days at a time. I pulled the codes, P0420. and a ton of other errors in the upper left window of the meter. I am not a mechanic, but mechanically inclined. I have read that I should try replacing the PCV and O2 sensors before replacing the catalytic converters (shop recommends replacement of the cats and exhaust since my muffler has a small rust spot that looks to be porous) I think that I would like to try to replace the PCV first. Any of you ever had any of these issues before, and successfully treated? Also, if I needed to replace my cats/exhaust how much should I be prepared to spend and is it something a moderately competent person can do over a weekend?
