Has anyone used the K&N airfilter in their LX? Have you seen any increase in performance or gas mileage?

I don't have one, but have heard mixed reviews from those with them.
Some have them and like them. Most seem to feel that along with the increased airflow, the K&N allows more dirt/dust/etc. to get past the filter.

Of those who have kept them in their LXs, the vast majority swap them out for the conventional paper filter when they go off-road or if they're in dusty areas.

None of the people I've discussed the K&N with have noticed any increase in power nor gas mileage increase.

you really dont notice much. i have noticed that the fuel economy somewhat improved. maybe alittle low end accel. but that could all be mental.

I agree. I don't have one on my Land Cruiser, but I did get one for my other car (Acura TL) three years ago when it was new. In addition to what you mentioned, I noticed a little more "growl" when accelerating. Aside from that, nothing.

BTW, I've experienced no problems with it in the three years I had it.
