Default Brake Malfunction message

Ok, so I was heading to work this morning and all of the sudden I get the lights on the dash which scared me mess out of me. The first was Brake Malfunction, then Check VSC System, then Check Brake System. The brakes got real soft and the car acted like it didnt want to stop. I was only about 1/2 mile from work when this happened (at 4am, so no cars on the road) and I continued to work and parked it. I got a hold of the dealer and explained what happened and arranged to have the car picked up and a loaner delivered. I got a call from the dealer this afternoon and they still didnt have an answer for me as to whats going on. Does anyone here have any info on these messages? Thanks.

Yours is not the first time this has been reported. There was a recent report in this forum of an owner reporting a similar experience and his turned out to be related to a rusted or damaged bleeder valve on one of the brake calipers.

Be sure to report your experience to the NHTSA. The reporting process is very simple at: https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm

ok, heres the update. Got the call this morning that the car was ready. The SR really didnt know what they did but she said the car was fixed and tested. Went to pick it up and heres what the receipt stated. "tech inspected and found code 1247. performed initialization of the linear solenoid valvce (thats the way it was written, I know its valve) and calibratrion. reset code test drove 8 mile. veh ok at this time". Car rides the way it did before so I guess its ok.

Whats funny is that on the work order they write "customer states". It says it on the screen. I didnt state anything. Either way, its fixed and Im happy to be out of that tiny HS.

I think thats one of those messages thats difficult to determine the source. My car actually went back and forth to the dealer for 5 months before they figured out it was a wiring problem. Ive read thread where people have the same problem and it was due to dead batteries and manually releasing the parking brake. After doing some searching on the web, I'd found a thread from a guy that has a code reader and actually erased his own code and it never came back. He stated that the dealer wanted 250 to reset the code and the code reader costed him 150.

A shot in the dark. Nick, did you try disconnecting the battery to see if a computer reset would occur?

update:

Took the car to Lexus dealer and it came back with multiple codes: C1241, C1289, C1341, C1342, C1343 Luckily for me they cleared the codes at no charge!
