Something different on wind noise
After 30,000 miles I am now getting some wind buffeting at the front corner of my driver's side window. Upon examining the seals, though, I see for the first time that they are made differently!
Whereas the passenger side (which is quiet) has a smooth, uninterrupted seal:
... the driver's side has a compound seal structure:
As the arrow shows on the driver's side photo, there is a depression and a little "lip", both of which are capable of producing noise under certain wind conditions.
Now, I don't understand why it would be necessary for one side of the car to have a seal of a certain kind and the other side to have a different seal design, but I'd appreciate it if others would look at their seals and see if theirs are like mine ...

Looked at my 2008 LS460 and the driver's side does not have what you are showing in the picture. It is continuous and not spliced.

In other words, the seal doesn't move - it's fixed in place and it's not a matter of my not putting it all the way in. You don't move it.
But that makes me wonder if the seal itself was never fitted right (?)
If I take it in now, though, the techs will find the Craney fix (a lot of gookey black sealant and broken "legs" on the triangle) and probably say it's all my fault.
Lose-lose proposition.

Very interesting.
I'd guess my driver's-side seal (weatherstripping, or whatever they call it) was never really right. Oddly enough, it hasn't been making any noise until recently, and that makes me think this isn't the issue.
I'm thinking of trading the LS before long, though, so I won't take it up with the dealer right now. It's just an intermittent thing when there are strong crosswinds anyway.

It has either slipped out of place or is slowly being stretched out of shape.
My '92 Acura legend did that all the time - once a year or so I had to go in and pull the seal back down a 1/2 inch in the front channel. Got real quiet again whenever I repositioned it.

I've tried every fix including JMCarney fix. Although improved I still get cross wind noise. I've been patiently waiting for a new TSIB from Lexus. I had all their old TSIB's done.

I would take it to another dealer if I were you. I've had very poor service from Sewell of Ft. Worth. You will likely get much better service at Sewell of Dallas. There is a BIG difference. And if you have an issue with the service department at Ft. Worth, Kurt Haman, the General Manger, will NOT take your side or be of any use to you. On the other hand, I've had excellent service at Sewell of Dallas.
