Default Need instructions on removing door panels

I need to repair my Levinson door speakers. Does anyone know how to get the door panels off to access the speakers? I don't want to do it without any prior knowledge and risk destroying anything.

This is something I wouldn't attempt to do unless I had the right tools, i.e. clip removal tool. Not to mention you're looking to tear apart a $60,000 car door. I would ask a tint or stereo shop who has a lot of experience doing this. I'd hate to accidentally scratch or cut the panel. Just my 2 cents.

It's the tint and stereo shop kids that I worry about. These guys don't care, and they rarely see LS430s. I had a shop install my XM and I basically had to reinstall it myself because they were idiots. Damn Lexus dealer here can't even seem to do things right. I can't take it to them because they'd say "no we can't do that, we'd just replace the speakers, you can't fix them..." Doing the job isn't difficult if I have the proper instructions.

How about buying the service manual so you can practically take anything apart the correct way.

its a great site no doubt, but too bad all the pictures are for an ls400, not an ls430.

Very easy to do, i just did it today and siliconed my speaker, rather then replaced it (did the same for my woofer).

1) there are 3 hex screws at the bottom of the door under the weather stripping and 1 more in the airduct hole (right near the mirrior, once you open your door).

2)there are 3 more bolts, 2 in the arm rest (1 under the bottom and 1 under the window switch cavity) and 1 hidden by the cover of the door handle cover plate. use a flat head screw driver to remove the panel in the door handle. it pops not where the lock is but at the other in where the handle finishes. you can also use the flat head to remove the window switch cavity.

after all the screws are removed, you can just snap the door off.

I ended up having an independent lexus mechanic do it, while they were off I siliconed the speakers, then they reinstalled the door panels, didn't cost very much. Thanks for the help though!

i replaced both front door woofers already. i had to modify the mb quart speakers so they would fit but in the end it came out well. taking off the panel is easy as pie. BK LS430's instructions are spot on. one thing I would add is that the panel slides up and off.

does this go the same for the rear doors? Also on the driver side speaker of the rear door there is no sound coming out from it does this mean i have to replace the speaker or can i just use the silicone method?

Sounds like removing the panel is almost exactly the same as in the LS400, just the screws are located slightly differently.

I've hacked up my door panels in my 94 extensively

Front speakers: 6-3/4"
Rear speakers: 6-1/2"
Subwoofer - Deck: 8"

For future reference, you can look up any car and see what the stock speaker size are.
