Might not be the coilover at all. If it just started recently, it may be caused by salt and sand that they just started using on the roads around here (NH, MA) over the last few weeks. You might want to try and take it through a car wash that has a good undercarriage wash and see if it goes away. The salt/sand wreaks havoc on my 91's suspension. Usually an undercarriage wash solves the problem for me.

My Megans are doing the exact same thing. Pure suggested a silicone lubricant. I don't think there is anything wrong with the coils, I just don't think they like the cold weather.

As for tires, I'm taking my 245/35 20s off and reverting back to 225/60 16s (factory dimensions) and stockers for winter. Bought a brand new set of all-season 60,000 mile Yokohamas for $375 in October with one of their promotions.

I hope to address the squeaking issue when I have them changed out either tomorrow or Saturday, as this region is supposed to get snow mid-next week.

+1 on the squeaky megans, I just started noticing the noise once the cold weather started rolling in. not sure if it's anything to worry about though

I'm running 225/60 -16 (original dimension) and it works fine. The tires are Continental ContiWiking 2 and they are really good and I highly reccomend them if you live in a similar climate as I do.

just run a factory size snow tire on the factory wheel for winter. assuming you actually get snow where you are. i get by with all seasons. well, i used to but now i have trucks, so the nice wheels stay on all year and i just use a 4x4 for snow.
never had my megans make any noise, on either LS.

I also recommend staying with the original 225/60-16 tire size for snow tires. A 94 LS is a fairly heavy car and thinner tires are going to provide poorer braking and handling on dry and wet roads -- sure learned that due to the little 205/65-15 tires that came on my 90 LS.

More important is the type of snow tire you buy. From my experience, "performance snow" tires are hardly better than all season tires. Studless Ice and Snow and Studable Ice and Snow tires provide much better traction in snow.

I've been using Bridgestone Blizzak WS50 Studless Ice and Snow tires on separate wheels on my 2000 LS400 in winter since I bought the car in 2003. They are almost as quiet and have a cushier ride than the high performance summer tires (also 225/60-16) I use in Spring, Summer and Fall.

I've bought almost all our tires from Tire Rack over the past 20+ years but, as of today, it looks like they don't have much of a snow tire selection -- it's a little late in the season and it seems like more people are scrambling to buy snow tires this year:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...er=16&x=16&y=6

Tire Rack doesn't currently show any Blizzak WS60 Ice and Snow Tires in stock -- they are the successor to the WS50 that I have and what I hope to buy when I retire my WS50's next Spring after using them seven winters -- have held up amazingly well for snow tires.

You can't go wrong with the Michelin X-Ice Xi2 that Tire Rack has in stock. Whatever snow tires you buy, verify that they have the Mountain/Snowflake symbol on the sidewalls. Tires labled only "Mud and Snow" are often just all season tires.

I just used my stock 16"s for winter rims since I have my 20"s for spring/summer/fall. I sanded them down, primed them, and rattle-canned them black, no center caps, new shiny lug nuts. They were fairly beat up to begin with so I don't care if they get eat up with road salt. If I would have found some high-disk black steel wheels, I would've gone with those.

Some people use the old Supra "sawblade" rims, as well as those wheels from the MkIV Supra. Check eBay, local classifieds, Craigslist or even the marketplace here at CL. Usually you can get a set of wheels in good-enough-for-winter condition fairly cheap.
