2022 Lexus LS 500h with Teammate
Hi All,
It appears Lexus has launched the webpage/configurator for the 2022 Lexus LS 500h with Teammate, their first level 2 self driving car.
https://www.lexus.com/models/LS-hybrid
Starting price of 113,075 USD.
Reading through the specs, I have three questions (that have now been answered):
1. After further review, the specs state the 2022 500h comes standard with “Four-zone Climate Concierge with climate-comfort front and outboard rear seats” I assume this means heated and ventilated seats. I assume the “heated seats” only option is speaking to the “interior upgrade” package, which on the gas only version I believe only adds heated rear seats. The specs say that the 500h does not have heated rear seats, even though it has the luxury package by default. Certainly that must be a typo?
2. The press release states: “Luxury features standard on LS 500h AWD include Lexus Safety System+ A“The 500h cannot be equipped with Safety System + A. Does Teammate do the same thing as SS+A and more? This is not clear. I liked the idea of the Front Cross-Traffic Alert functionality. I wonder if Teammate offers that?
3. As pointed out by ESh below, this is likely the automated parking button.Near the touchpad there is a new button. It appears to be a steering wheel with a P next to it? What is this button? I believe this used to be the place of the rapid height button but that button appears to be near the EV mode button on the left side dash.
Other notes seem to be that the 500h has a larger fuel tank(half gallon), slightly smaller trunk(1.76 cu ft), no ability for a panoramic roof, 2022 model ONLY comes in AWD, and the car seems to have front, side, and rear lidar sensors. The 500h has appears to have a larger full LCD gage cluster (no more analog fuel/engine temp dials. Those values are reported on the LCD gage). The 500h also comes equipped with the luxury package by default.
Thoughts?

PLANO, Texas (March 31, 2022) – When the first-generation LS debuted in 1989, it built the foundation of Lexus with its exceptional quietness, comfort and refinement, and each subsequent generation has embraced the spirit of constant innovation through new technology. Building on that legacy, the 2022 LS 500h AWD, the flagship luxury hybrid sedan, will debut as the first vehicle in the US lineup to offer the all-new Lexus Teammate™advanced driver assistance technology.
The 2022 LS 500h AWD will have a starting MSRP of $113,075 and is expected to arrive in dealerships in late spring 2022.
LS 500h AWD with Lexus Teammate™
Developed based on the Mobility Teammate Concept, Lexus Teammate is built on the belief that people and vehicles can work together in partnership to help achieve safe, convenient and efficient mobility. Lexus Teammate™ on the LS 500h AWD provides two functions: Advanced Drive and Advanced Park.
Advanced Drive
Advanced Drive is designed to accurately detect driving conditions to plan and execute acceleration, braking and steering commands to maintain the vehicle within the lane, follow other vehicles, change lanes, navigate certain interchanges and traffic jams and help to overtake slower vehicles. Advanced Drive supports SAE Level 2 functionality that allows for driving on limited-access highways that, under certain conditions, can also offer hands-free capabilities while keeping your eyes on the road. This feature can benefit the driver by helping to reduce fatigue over long periods of driving and empowering the driver to pay better attention to the surroundings for safety.
Advanced Park
Advanced Park assists the operations necessary for hands-free parking by automatically controlling steering, acceleration, braking and gear changes when parallel parking or backing into a parking space. Using 360-degree sensing, which integrates the functions of complete-circumference cameras and ultrasonic sensors, the system also provides a bird’s-eye view display to allow the driver to check the vehicle’s position relative to any obstacles during Advanced Park operation.
LS 500h AWD Luxury Standard Features
In addition to standard advanced technology, the 2022 LS 500h AWD comes standard with the Luxury package. Luxury features standard on LS 500h AWD include Lexus Safety System+ A, 20-inch Split 10-Spoke Alloy Wheels with Vapor Chrome Finish, Wood and Leather Heated Steering Wheel, Premium Wood Trim, Adaptive Variable Air Suspension, Head Up Display, Panoramic View Monitor, Mark Levinson Audio and Digital Mirror.
